This is a post written by my nephew.
Recently I read about the upcoming nationwide roll out of the Quality Metrics Framework. For those of you who don’t know, The Quality Metrics are a selection of statements presented to audiences to…

I loved this, Clare. If you don’t mind me asking, how old is your nephew? I’m so happy you shared this with us. ❤

Thank-you Jill. He is 24 and is my sister’s son. He studied drama at university and always wanted to go into the production side of things. He will get there eventually 🙂

Sorry about that…I was interrupted with a phone call. He seems very intelligent. Yes, he will get there. 🙂

A very well written and thought provoking article. I’m not sure what the answer is, or even if there is an answer.

A great post from your nephew, Clare. The concept of Quality Metrics Frameworks has me puzzled, and asking,”but why?”

I have no idea! All I can say is I think that accountants must be behind it all.

Good article. I’m nervous about attempts to put numbers to everything these days – particulalrly in areas where people might lie to make themselves look more intellectual. I’m also nervous that once we establish a framework for funding we will only fund what is safe (and stale?) However, I am a well known cynic…

If you can’t measure it then it does haven’t any value at all….at least that is what the government’s education policy makers seem to think.

Over my head I’m afraid, but I like where your nephew lives. Lancaster is where my ancestors came from. I’m glad to hear that it’s such a lively, vibrant place!

He’s a very perceptive fellow! Creativity will fall by the wayside with so much too much figuring and planning. And he’s right, it can only consist of looking backward. Smart guy. 🙂

Metrics can be useful in the right places, but my own feeling is that in general, that they stifle creativity and innovation.

Thank-you Lavinia. Yes you are right – who could be truly creative if they are limited by metrics?
You have been in my thoughts and prayers – I hope all is okay. xx

I will be having what I hope is only minor surgery here soon. It has been a long year, and I am looking forward to spring.

I wish you all the very best for the surgery. You have had a very difficult year indeed and I can sympathise with you for wanting it over. With love xx

Good stuff, you and your sister must be proud! I believe one of our many failings as a race is that when someone hits on an idea, a way of doing something, those who are perhaps not very bright try to make it fit everything, a one-size fits all solution. Then the idea goes out of fashion. I have seen this so many times in business.

We are very proud of him 🙂 Yes I agree – laziness, ignorance, penny-pinching …
