Thank-you, Lisa. Our leaves appear gradually most years starting with the shrubs and hedges and then the taller trees. By mid-May the trees should be all in leaf. I think that compared with this time last year we are a lot greener as we have had some warm days and much more sunshine.

I don’t know when I last heard Compline. I remember that when we were at school, we used to call it ‘the complete spiritual food’, after its alter ego, Complan.
